Synchronized photomultipliers

Laser light is used to synchronize the photomultipliers.

To localize and identify the particles interacting in the detector, it is necessary, first of all, to synchronize to a precision of nanoseconds the photomultipliers used to detect them. The calibration occurs hitting at the same time each photomultiplier with a light trigger generated by a laser. This trigger goes through optic fibres inside the detector. The calibration is carried out based on the time response of the photomultipliers.
