Filter

Component used in the water purification process to remove particles in suspension and microorganisms.

The filter is composed of a porous membrane, which is permeable to water but not to particulate. Filters are used with pores of 2 and 0.002 micometers diameter (1 micrometer is one millionth of a metre), which allow to retain particles and microorganisms in suspension. During the filtration process, the water is pushed through the filter and purified from these coarse pollutants. Afterwards it continues towards other more refined phases of the purification process.
